HOLY COW!!! Time flies by when busy busy! A lot has happened around here since the last update.
I found out that Dartmouth changed their criteria for sending in all my preliminary tests. So on 5/21 I sent it all in - everything I've worked for since 8/08 to put together. Last week they called and let me know I needed to update a few things and send in a few others. Yesterday I updated my bloodwork at docs and let them know they needed to send in my notes for the monthly visits I've been having. I also have an appt on Aug. 6 with my sleep clinic for a follow up before I can see Dartmouth. So maybe after all that I can start getting my appts down there.
The one drawback is insurance. MVP has strict criteria which they made even stricter as of 4/09. I've been assured by Dartmouth they will work with me to make that criteria and if not able work with insurance to see what else can be done.
It's been such a long journey and it all started with one doc in 1/08 who said "you're going to die if you don't do something" I'm ready to LIVE - so let's go already!!! (never said I was a patient person)
I still have my motivation but haven't stuck very well through the holiday. Today I'm starting to journal and exercise again. I do better if I actually write down everything. I'm so close that I can taste it for sending in paperwork to Dartmouth, I don't want to redo everything I've worked so hard for because of not being able to lose the last 5 lbs. It will happen!!!!
Well after the long month of March I believe I'm finally back on track.
I made bad decisions and let work interfere with my healthy lifestyle. No MORE!!! I'm bringing in healthy food everyday and healthy snacks for those days that I can't always get a break. I've got my motivation back and I will not let it go this time.
Thanks to all those who help in keeping me on track - Love you all!!!
YES!!!!! Another 3 lbs down. I really am finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! Weight watchers is going good for me and keeping me in line. Work still remains busy so I'm still getting plenty of exercise.
After a crazy week 3, week 4 wasn't much better. I was sick with the stomach bug that all the nursing/patients seem to be getting. Good news was I lost 3lbs for weigh in this week! I have started Weight Watchers Online and keeping track. I'm still getting my exercise in, whether it be my arm bike or running around at work. I'm hoping I'm finally on the road to a healthier me!
Sorry I'm late folks. This should have been posted last week, however work and being sick has me behind on everything!
Well I lapsed on week 3 - didn't journal and didn't do much exercise with my arm bike but work kept me going in that department. Unable to take my fluid pills and I gained 8 lbs of fluid by Monday - 1/26. Well I finally was able to take my fluid pills and was down to 412 by Friday 1/30. So my official weigh in was only up 0.8lbs which I'll take. I'm back to exercising and journaling and hoping week 4 will be better.
I maintained this week. I'm so happy I didn't gain! Most times that's the way it goes, I lose, I gain - goes back and forth so maintaining is just awesome!! I had 1 day where my eating sucked but otherwise I was good. I did my arm bike 5 out of 7 days and journaled everything! Let's hope for another week like that :)
Doc called Monday and I have to go back on my Lopid - chol. is good at 173 on the Lipitor but my Trig. which were getting down around 200 or less shot back up to 560. So back on another medication :P Can't wait to get surgery and get rid of some of these drugs.
My first week is done and I think I did a pretty darn good job. Of course won't know the results until Tuesday when I weigh in. I've used my arm bike 5 times, journaled everything for the week and even drank all my water. I know I can do this, nothing will stop me this time!
I feel that journaling has opened my eyes to my downfalls. I have a strange schedule and I found out this week that when I get home at 8pm I tend to overeat - or eat the wrong things. So I managed to plan my meals when I work, all but one day at least were planned. I have even started measuring things so I get accurate measurements and not what I think things are.
A New Year once again! This is the year I get healthy! NO MORE EXCUSES! I have completed all my mandatory testing for Darmouth and now I need to finish the weight loss expectation. I lose and I gain. I'm eating like crap even though I try to be healthier in my choices. I know I can do this. I found my calorie counting book I received from VT Bariatric center and I bought a journal for the new year. Today is day 1 of a new healthier me and I will conquer this.
I'm 34 - single - weigh 400+ and want to be healthy. I'm a nurse in a busy ICU/Stepdown unit and float to Med/Surg. Currently unable to move to much due to a severly sprained ankle but working with PT to get my butt in gear.
